10 Jobs for Stay-at-Home Moms in 2025

Hi guys, welcome back to the blog! I’ve been researching lately what some Stay at Home Moms are doing to make extra income from home. The list comes from a mix of real life stay at home moms I know and what’s trending in various communities by chatting with a few amazing moms, reading through forums, and looking at what’s been working for them in real life and also a little insight to what mom has been doing to bring in some extra cash. ( I will get into that part later.)

When I started digging into this topic, I kept seeing the same old suggestions like freelance writing, selling courses, virtual assistant, and of course, these do work, but I noticed many Stay-at-home moms felt overwhelmed by the idea of learning complicated skills or diving into something completely new. I will give a list of mixed options or jobs stay-at-home moms are doing today. The list I’ve made is simple, realistic, doable, stay-at-home moms friendly, and some you can even do from your kitchen or backyard. If you read the blog thoroughly, sometimes I call this a list of side hustles, and other times I call it jobs, because honestly, it can be either! It depends on how much time and effort you’re ready to put into it.

I’m not a mom myself, but I’ve been fascinated by how creative and resourceful moms can be when it comes to making income from home, especially when juggling the busiest job in the world, parenting. Even if you are not a stay-at-home mom and you’re just someone looking to bring in a little extra money, this post might help you too.

Let’s jump into the list.

1. Propagating Plants

Let’s start with what my mom is doing because it’s easy, relaxing, and surprisingly profitable. She propagates and sells pothos plants from home. This side hustle grew out of her love for indoor plants, and it started with a single big pothos plant she had purchased years ago. She began cutting off vines and placing them in jars of water, It is incredibly easy to do once you know how.

Pothos plants are nearly indestructible. You can overwater them, underwater them, and they still thrive. To propagate them, all you have to do is cut a vine, making sure there’s a node (the small bump where leaves grow out). Place that node in water, and soon roots will grow. Once they’re rooted, you can replant them in soil or continue to grow them in water.

She sells these small propagated vines for $3$5 each. If she combines five or six rooted vines into a pot, she can sell it for $10$25, depending on the size. She sells them on Facebook Marketplace, gives some away to friends, and occasionally sets up a booth at local farmers’ markets. It’s low effort and a great way to earn extra money from home, especially if you love plants. This is one of the easiest stay-at-home mom side hustles to start.

2. Selling Homemade Vanilla Extract

One of the simplest DIY side hustles is making and selling your vanilla extract. It sounds fancy, but it’s just two ingredients: vodka and vanilla beans. You slice the beans open, stick them in a clean jar, fill the jar with vodka, and let it sit for a couple of months (six months is even better). This is the job or side hustles of Stay-at-home moms, told me she’s doing: she makes around $1200 to $1600 a month.

Vanilla extract is expensive in stores, but making it yourself drastically lowers costs, and you can make several jars at once. People love buying homemade, organic, or small-batch items like this at farmers’ markets, holiday fairs, Etsy, or even on Facebook.

3. Selling Eggs, Sourdough Starters, or Other Homemade Items

If you already have a garden, chickens, or a knack for making things in your kitchen, consider turning that hobby into a little money. Stay-at-home moms these days are selling fresh eggs, sourdough starters, jams, pickles, infused oils, baked goods, and even dehydrated fruit chips from home. I think this one is a good idea since these are everyday items, and they are pretty easy to make. if you don’t know how to make one, there are lots of recipes and tutorials on YouTube.

These are hot items on local Facebook groups and community markets. People are increasingly looking for fresh, local alternatives, and you may already have what they’re looking for in your kitchen or backyard.

4. Reselling Clothes and Baby Items

If you have kids, then you’ve probably got a closet full of clothes they’ve outgrown. Many moms are cashing in by reselling gently used baby and children’s clothes on Facebook Marketplace, at consignment stores like Once Upon a Child, or through apps like Poshmark. I am sure you have seen kids’ clothes for sale on Facebook Marketplace. My friend’s sister is a stay-at-home mom and has 2 kids. She sells her kids’ clothes on Facebook Marketplace and makes around $122$200 a month.

Adult clothes can be sold to stores like Plato’s Closet or consignment shops. Hosting a garage sale is another way to declutter and earn at the same time. It’s a win-win: you get a tidier home and some extra cash in your wallet.

5. In-Home Daycare or Babysitting

With the cost of daycare soaring, many moms are offering babysitting or in-home daycare for friends, neighbors, or church members. Even watching one child during summer break can bring in a good amount of money.

If your children are home all day, having another child around can sometimes make it easier; they entertain each other! Plus, it’s flexible and familiar, since you’re already in your own space

6. Flipping Furniture

Furniture flipping can be both creative and profitable. One mom shared how she bought a dusty wardrobe for $75, she gave it a good cleaning, took better photos, and re-listed it for $150. It sold quickly. This can be your full-time job if you’re not lazy and you are willing to put effort because it takes some work; you have to find old furniture, clean it up, paint it, and sometimes even deliver it yourself. Furniture flipping has gotten popular lately. I am sure you have seen people doing it on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. I think this is the most profitable Stay-at-home mom’s side hustle or job.

Sometimes you don’t even need to refinish the item—just clean it up, style it nicely, and take high-quality pictures. Look on Facebook Marketplace for freebies or cheap furniture, and flip them for a profit.

7. Pet Sitting or Dog Walking

Another mom-friendly side hustle or job. You can offer dog-walking or pet-sitting services in your neighborhood on Rover. You set up a profile, list the pet types you’re comfortable with, and choose services you want to offer boarding, dog walking, drop-ins, house-sitting, etc. Boarding pays the most. Like, significantly more. According to Rover’s site, sitters who offer boarding can make twice what others do. I think this is the easiest side hustle or job for stay-at-home moms if you love pets.

Caution: If you’re not confident with handling animals, especially large or reactive dogs, this may not be for you, although Rover provides insurance.

8. Selling Handmade Crafts

If you’re good at making things, like crochet, candles, or personalized gifts, selling handmade crafts can be a great way to earn online. Handmade items never really go out of style. People love them because they feel unique, thoughtful, and made with love.

I talked to a stay-at-home mom on Reddit who turned her crochet hobby into a full-time Etsy business. She sells physical items like crochet baby clothes, cute bags, and home decor, and also digital products like crochet patterns and tutorials. She now makes around $2,800 to $3,200 a month, yep, this is her full-time job. So if you’re creative and enjoy working with your hands, this could be a cozy and profitable path for you. I even tried learning crochet myself… let’s just say the yarn won that battle lol!

9. Cleaning or Organizing Homes Through Care.com

Care.com isn’t just for babysitting. It also lists jobs like house cleaning, pet care, and organization. If you’re someone who enjoys cleaning or organizing, this could be a great fit. Many families are looking for someone to help once or twice a week.

10. Printables on Etsy

People are selling all kinds of printables on Etsy, like planners, wall art, budget sheets, kids’ activity pages, and more. And yes, it feels like everyone is doing it these days, so it’s a bit crowded. But the thing is, it still works. You just need to be smart about it. Don’t expect to make sales right away. Etsy takes time. Use the right keywords, write good titles, and make sure your product pictures look nice and clear.

Also, don’t just upload one product and wait. Try to post at least 4 or 5 printables so your shop looks active. It helps people trust you more, too. Some sellers don’t get any sales for weeks, but once they do, things can slowly pick up. A lot of stay-at-home moms are doing this as a full-time job.

Final Thoughts
When you search for “ jobs for Stay-at-home moms,” the results can feel overwhelming or completely out of reach. Many of the suggestions involve complicated start-up steps, tech skills, or multi-level marketing schemes that aren’t right for everyone.

But these 10 jobs for Stay-at-home moms come straight from real moms, and most don’t require upfront investments or fancy skills. Whether it’s flipping furniture, selling a homemade vanilla extract, babysitting, or propagating pothos like my mom, I believe there’s something out there for every kind of personality and schedule.
